SLAUGHTER OF THE VAMPIRES

When newlyweds Wolfgang and Louise move into their new interesting mansion they begin to be haunted by a bloodthirsty, lover seeking vampire. This Italian flick is still currently available to stream, and I would highly recommend you do. I’m not sure if it’s the long fangs, the quirky acting, the dub, the dramatic music on top of the dramatic acting, but this was an amazing watch. The hints of gothic horror that’s throughout it is lovely, and the wardrobes are lavish as fuck. The story was a recycled retelling of other vampire stories where the male vampire needs a partner to live forever with but was still enjoyable.

A solid 3/5 purely for all of its personality.

CASTLE FREAK

When an American man inherits an Italian castle after a distant relatives dies, he moves there with his estranged wife and blinded daughter hoping it’ll rekindle his family. However, a deformed monster breaks loose from the basement and a series of murders leads to the family having to fight for their lives and reputation. I was surprised to learn this was direct to video, but, like every Stuart Gordon movie I’ve seen so far, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It ended up being more gruesome than what I went in expecting, but that’s okay! Barbara Crampton and Jeffrey Combs do fantastic together as always too.

A 3.5/5 because it’s a beautiful movie, though there is one very brutal and disturbing kill.

NEW YORK RIPPER

A police detective attempts to track down down a serial killer who’s brutally murdering women in this bloody fantastic Fulci classic. I fucking love this movie. it’s disgusting and extremely violent ( towards women) but it’s beautiful, and gruesome, and the kills are absolutely insane. The first kill is hands down one of my favorites. I thought at least three different people were the killer only to be completely wrong in the end.

I’m giving this nasty movie 4.5/5.
