Tubi Terrors: Shark Edition
Tubi Terrors is a somewhat reoccurring series about horror movies that can be streamed for free on Tubi.
Jaws is a historic movie for many reasons. It introduced the summer blockbuster and spread panic of going into the water, but it would go on to inspire ripoffs and open up the world to a subgenre of movies: sharks. There have been serious movies that center on sharks, and then there’s the beloved low budget movies that come from SyFy.
All are valid, and this particular sub-genre is what leads us to the newest Tubi Terrors. There are currently so many shark movies available to watch, but below are a handful of shark movies that I watched that are available.
2 HEADED SHARK ATTACK
After a mutated 2-headed shark attacks their ship, a professor and his students must find shelter on an atoll that’s slowly starting to sink.
DISLIKES:
- Really bad CGI.
- Dumbass dialogue.
- Long ass scene of walking.
- Random horny student. Gag.
- Recycled footage.
- Bad editing that causes a lot of confusion for what’s happening and why people are reacting certain ways.
LIKES:
- Crazy cast lineup.
- Flashy opening scene.
- Montage of Carmen Electra tanning.
- Serious backstory for Brooke Hogan’s character.
- Shark shakes the atoll, causing it to start to sink!
- Lots of blood.
THE LAST SHARK
A small beach town is terrorized by a large shark during a regatta.
DISLIKES:
- Sad, boring ending.
- Helicopter pilots dies. RIP Ernie.
LIKES:
- Vic Morrow, and he’s definitely the “Quint” character of this movie.
- Is a ripoff of Jaws.
- The shark attacks DRAMATICALLY.
CRUEL JAWS
During the annual regatta, a large shark terrorizes a beach town…
DISLIKES:
- The recycled footage causes some confusion since there’s certain things from The Last Shark that don’t work in this movie.
LIKES:
- Is a rip off of The Last Shark.
- USES FOOTAGE FROM THE MOVIE.
- Cheesy dialogue and acting.
- Random mafia subplot.
- BOAT EXPLOSION.
- Walmart Hulk Hogan.
- THEY USED THE THEME FROM STAR WARS!
DEEP BLOOD
Childhood friends come together to start an ancient curse that’s causing a shark to attack their beach community.
DISLIKES:
- Offensive Indigenous character.
- A character totally watches his friend die instead of trying to rescue him.
- A lot of underwhelming moments.
- Long underwater scene of planting dynamite.
LIKES:
- A mom gets ripped to shreds by a shark while a bop plays.
- So much fake blood.
- A character wants to be a golfer but his dad wants him to go to business school instead.
- Lots of dead mom storylines.
AVALANCHE SHARKS
A ski resort is plagued by snow sharks after an ancient curse is unleashed onto the mountaintop.
DISLIKES:
- Cringe dialogue.
- Overly creepy and horny character.
- Dogs get eaten.
- There’s a group of girls that are in a hot tub for a very unrealistic amount of time.
- Wildly offensive Asian character.
- Only one avalanche.
LIKES:
- Bad CGI works here.
- Great opening music.
SWIM
After their vacation rental is flooded, a family must fight for survival when they realize a shark has swam into the house.
DISLIKES:
- Joey Lawrence is only in it for like 30 minutes max.
- Slightly bad ADR can be jarring.
- Pace and tone is all over the place.
- The characters aren’t really that smart during some situations.
LIKES:
- It’s a Tubi original with Joey Lawrence.
- Basement gets flooded with three feet of water and there’s already a giant shark in it. Love it.
- The mom has a lot of fun facial expressions and reactions.
- Such a dramatic movie.
